Lesson (A Poem)

Updated: Jan 3, 2022

Always to damage I run toward

Seeking to fix with no reward

Another infatuation ends in scorn

From which I'll never know what could have been born

Like all the rest

Another quest

But I'll see then, what I can't see now

Too lost in my enamour that I succumb to avow

To love oneself, a lie, a trick

Seldom do these notions stick

Accept yourself I try to say

It's the closest you can get, that way

Alas, you see, clarity never comes for me

Til I push so hard, you'll run a yard

Like all the rest

Another test

But I'll see then, what I can't see now

The reasons why you disallow

A chance I seek to prove my worth

Even though I'm nought but dearth

Self aware yet no self care

Your patience thin, I'm sure to wear

Like all the rest

Another stress

But I'll see then, what I refuse to see now

The lesson I never learn somehow
